Is it worth applying to universities that are under the top 30? where do you put the line?
also
If I get A/A/A would that make up for my poor GCSEs? (Consisting of B/Cs?) to get into r/g universities?

Ignore rankings, they are irrelevant, not least because they are contradictory and change often. A so-called 'top 30' (or even top 10) university may not be ranked so highly in 5 year's time. Apply to universities you like.

A levels are much more important than GCSE grades. If you get good A level grades then no university will care about your GCSE grades.
