Hey shell_xx, i'm in the same boat as you were a week or two ago. i take it you've done the test now, how was it? is it worth doing lots of practice ones?

I'm very interested in this, but how can I apply?

I failed the maths test. Insanely hard. Ridiculous.

Was it like A Level standard?

I don't know, I gave it up after GCSE. It was all graphs and knowing which data to use and stuff. And you only have about 20 minutes for 20 questions... you need to calculate about 10 things per question. I genuinely don't understand the logic in making us do these tests for such schemes.

Sounds pretty standard, you just need to calc about 2/3 things if you know the shortcuts.

Well getting people to do an online test to see whos numerate and understands English is the easiest way to cut 20,000 applications down to 4,000.
How did you get past the situation part of the test where they give you a situation and you have to prioritize the answers?

I had exactly the same problem! I have worked in retial for approx 4 years whilst being at uni, however did not manage to get past second part of the prioritise bit! It is quite a weird way of filtering at the applicants - but i suppose they have to have a proces in order to reduce nmbers

you can keep retrying guys, I passed that part last year, as I was testing myself, but this year I can't seem to go past the second part :s-smilie:

I want to apply for the marketing role but I missed out by 10 ucas points
I just did the second part of the online questionaire, (ranking answers Best, Second, Third, Fourth). Apparently I wasn't a good fit and failed  May give it another try though. I tried to answer the questions as well as possible but they're so long winded and difficult to understand what they mean sometimes
Is anyone else applying for this? I've got to the final part of the application but haven't sent it off yet.. (Buying - general merchandise)

Hi All, I applied for the scheme and I made it to the online test, please can anyone recommend practise material I could get.

I applied for the Commercial grad scheme the other week and then got a regret.

Now I am in the process of applying for the buying one and if that doesn't work I probably try the store management one since I just got a part time job at Sainsbury's.

Btw does anyone know if working at the supermarket part time will increase the chances of them taking you on?

I can't believe I didn't even get an interview for commercial when I have an engineering degree 2.1 ? maybe I didn't answer their questions well enough :frown:

Anyone tried the Tesco one as well? I applied for the buying one as they reopened in the summer but got another regret without even an interview how stupid is that?

Anecdotal evidence, but a friend of a friend got on the Sainsbury's grad scheme and quit after a few months because it was apparently awful. I'm not sure how it was awful but it was apparently awful.

Just got a reply from sainsburys after completing the online application for the buying food scheme.

Unfortunately, your skills do not seem to be a strong match for this scheme. So, we regret to inform you that we won't be taking your application any further.

This is the second email i got, once for the Commercial scheme and now the buying one too.

I don't understand what they mean by skills? My qualifications? my work experience? the way i answered they lame questions? such as give an example of a time when you was a leader etc etc

That's just a standard response. If you received the rejection after your online tests, it probably indicates you didn't do too well in them.
