Got a question about UON? (Halls, courses, freshers week or anything!) Ask a student

I'm a current student at the University of Nottingham - going into 3rd year!
I know a lot about the uni and freshers week as I was a Welcome Mentor last year so know how many questions you have at the start of uni!
Just a heads up, don't buy any tickets for nights out in freshers week unless they are from the Students Union (these tickets are not being sold yet) as they are scams and the events won't actually run and you will lose your money. All of the 'Nottingham Freshers 2017-2018' and halls Facebook pages are also unofficial and just there to sell you stuff - the official ones go up on results day!
Ask me anything, I'm happy to answer xx

Thanks for that information about the freshers week tickets!!!

Hello, what can you tell me about St. Peter's Court (Self-Catered accommodation). From what you've heard from other people / know yourself.
Also what is University Park Campus compared to the other campuses. Like which one holds the most students.

Also. during freshers, as well as afterwards, is the nightlife hotspot in nottingham city centre or campus?

Thank you,

St Peters Court is quite big, self catered. It's really close to Raleigh Park so most people get to know people in that hall as well. There's buses which go to Jubillee and University Park from St. Peter's Court as well. Quite a lot of international students live in SPC but there's a range of different people there too!
University Park is the biggest and main campus at UoN. It's where most courses are based and is viewed as the hub of the university.
In freshers and afterwards, all of the clubbing nightlife is in the city centre however there are also bars on campus.
Hope that helps!

What are the shared study rooms like in Lenton and Wortley. I know what the room layout is like, I'm interested to know more about what its like to actually have this type of room, and specifically in this hall cos that's where I'm going. Do people usually get on with whoever they get paired up with or is it often a disaster? Not sure how they pair up people who are sharing a room....is it generally people who are studying the same or similar courses who share...or is there some other kind of criteria...or is it just completely random!!? I chose it because I like the idea of having more than one room to roam in, and because its the cheapest option...but am now wondering who will be sharing with me and hoping its somebody I can be good friends with. Are most sharers good mates...or not particularly?
Can you give me rough timetable for an engineering students? I am currently searching for work and would like to know where i stand in regard to working hours. Thanks

I've seen the shared study rooms in other halls but not Lenton and Wortley particularly. The sharers tend to get on as they usually spend a fair amount of time together. I've never heard of an issue between people who were sharing! They also pair people up on interest so you'd hopefully get someone who you'd get on with! Other people tend to come socialise in the study part of the shared rooms as well as there's lots of room.

I don't know specifically but most engineers I know have 9-5 pretty much everyday.
Do we need to bring GCSE certificates on the registration/enrolment days?

Thank You! I feel like I've made the exact right choice. This is just what i was hoping for. A built in buddy, lots of space to move in, and a potential party zone in the middle. Cheapest option is just a bonus!
How far is Albion House from University Park?

The *******s said on the website it was 10 mins

That route is bit strange when you go in the south entrance as you can come from the west entrance and go straight up to the Trent building. It's still like 20minutes

It's about 10 minutes from one side of University Park Campus but around 20/25 to get the centre of campus.

If we stay in catered halls what date can we arrive? is it arrival on Sept 25th, registration day, or can we arrive a day or so before that to settle in/unpack etc etc. Just wondering because its quite a long journey for me to get to Notts for a morning registration. Arriving for before 9am on Open day nearly killed me!

If you are in catered halls and not an international student then the earliest you can move in is Saturday 23rd. But move in day you can move in anytime between 9 and 5 so I guess you could arrive later in the day!
Hey, I'm going to be living at sutton bonnington and I was just wondering how easy it is to travel from there to Nottingham station so I can get home. What is the easiest route? Also is there like a supermarket within Sutton Bonington where I can buy food and essentials?

It is quite easy to get from SB to Nottingham station - there is a hopper bus which goes to university park campus and Nottingham city from Sutton Bonington. You are also near from East Midlands Parkway Station.
There is a shop on campus as well as a Coop in Kegworth which is the nearest village to SB.
Let me know if you have any more questions 😊
Are there any freshers at riverside point?
