Cant avoid the drinking

Hi there, was just wondering if anyone else finds it difficult to avoid alcohol on nights out/pub lunches.

Im sick of spending all my weekends hungover and regretting what I did the night before.

Aswell I can never stick to a few drinks and always come home off my face. Im sick of drinking but all my friends, even the ones in different circles, see alcohol as a big part of their social lives. Ive had liver function tests in the past and have been told binge-drinking is affecting my health but not drinking would mean staying in at home while all my friends are out enjoying themselves. Any tips/advice please? x

It's just a habit you need to get into of either not drinking at all on some nights out or just going out less in general. You don't have to go cold turkey but you need to learn to cut down especially since its affecting your health like that...you'll probably save a ton of money and the feeling of waking up with no hangover from the night before is pretty good too!! But like if you can't just stick to a few drinks then you'll have to just try not drink some nights...even though its pretty boring...there must be something else you could do on your nights in so you don't just feel like you're missing out!!

I think the OP's issue isn't with going out and not drinking per se, but rather they don't really have a good time unless they actually get drunk (I assume this since he said the alternative was staying home). I'm in a similar position, and if nothing else my finances demand I do something about it.

I just restrict the times I do go out. When I go out, I get battered, but otherwise don't touch a drop. If I know I can't afford to drink, I just won't go out (if it's to a club or something - pubs are fair game cause it's more about the chat). I spend the nights in catching up on work so that I CAN go out and get battered, and then even if I do spend the weekend with a hangover, I know I don't have any work I should be doing!

Do you mix the drinks yourself? If so, put less spirits in them. Also drink more water in between, just get some bottles on the table. If you can't do either of these, get some normal coca cola and tell ppl it has rum inside
