Moving to Ipswich. All I've heard from others is that it's a sh** hole.
Is it really that bad? When I visited, the town centre had nice retailers, it's surrounded by countryside and it's well connected. There's a friggin little Waitrose there. How bad can it be?!

Having moved from Guildford, Surrey to Ipswich to study for my degree I found there was a little bit of negative stigma from a few locals. However after studying for 3 years in Ipswich and choosing to live here after finishing my degree, I feel the town has a lot going for itself with new redevelopments and a vast amount of shops, bars etc - I refuse to believe what others say!

It's about managing expectation. If you go expecting it to be like Shoreditch or Leeds or Bristol then you're going to be disappointed. It's a county town, and Suffolk is a very rural county. That said, Ipswich isn't a dump - and it's got plenty of 'stuff' going on to keep most people occupied. London really isn't that far away from Ipswich either, if it all gets a bit too much.

So it's probably fair to say Ipswich isn't the most exciting place in the country to be. But it's far from the worst, either.

It has a lot of crime I live here and I hate it
No more crime than any other large town.
Having been brought up in Ipswich I have no bad word about the place
