You were right about the more relaxed aspect. If you've been given an interview if you turn up you'll have to really mess up not to get an offer. The interview has two main functions, to allow you to discuss the course and university with a lecturer and to make sure that you actually turn up to the "interview" day. Bath really don't like people going to Bath without visiting it.

Intresting, they gave me a straight offer without me visiting at all.

I had one of those 'informal interviews' at Manchester for ChemEng and the academics were quite relaxed about it all. My interview ended up being a friendly chat about my AS Physics coursework.

That's very unusual.

I suspect someone was stereotyping, or they didnt expect me to go there.

Thats because you have insane A-Levels. I had the interview, spent 5 minutes talking about rugby injuries and was then made an offer. Applying for chem eng, so yea by informal, they mean informal. You'd really have to mess up to get rejected.

When you take out ICT and General Studies my A-level set doesnt look as good, and both are total doss subjects.

Even if you get given a place without interview it is still worth visiting before you accept them as your firm offer (as with any university). It makes it much easier come freshers week when you arrive if you at least know what the uni looks like / rough idea where stuff is rather than turning up to live in a place you've never visited before.

I got an interview on the 20th for CS, and after a quick check online, there is no way i can get there in time...
Tomorrow, im going to find out some more info on the trains and see if i can be a little bit late. Just hope they will be ok with that (if not, then i guess im saying bye to bath as a wasted choice)
