Hi Kellyh1996,
A student can be considered independent if they supported themselves financially for at least three years prior to the start of their course .36 months (3
years) worth of evidence is required, however it does not have to be consecutive years.
If the student has been provided with food and accommodation in place of wages then this can be considered as self supporting.There is no set income amount to show self support each application is dealt with individually on a case by case basis.
