Because a 5 year old girl can afford to pay a £150 fine.

For some reason, I read this as "stealing" lemonade.

Ridiculous so happy the fine's been cancelled

They charged a 5 year old? I can't fathom how that would have seemed reasonable to them :erm:

Honestly, there isnt one rule for them and one rule for others. Its one rule for everyone.

Now, her parents got fined for setting up an illegal trading stand. Provided it was lemonade, and a one time thing I would've let it slide this once.

But, let say another time a parent forces their child to sell drinks, other items and make them appear to do it more then they should. Without these licenses and stuff, people would exploit their kids.

Like a lot of these stories attacking 'petty officialdom', there's clearly more to it than meets the eye - 5-year olds don't set stalls up on their own. It was being supervised by her dad and that's clearly why the enforcement people felt able to issue the penalty. The council has caved because the tabloids love this kind of half-true story and it's easier to refund and apologise than slug it out. The fact remains that it is a public danger to have unregulated and unlicensed purveyors of food and drink to be given free reign in public spaces. Especially in London, the results would be dire.

And I saw another video of a person getting beaten down and arrested for selling WATER. Like there isn't real CRIME out there that the police should be more concerned with. Absolutely disgusting.

Take a step back here and thiking its not as it seems, parents could of put the kid on for a sob story to get easy cash from festival goers.

I mean even though they "charged" 50p its likely people just handed her a few quid and told her to keep the change, and I can't imagine a kid giving correct change back if got a note so easy money for parents and when law comes knocking play the child card.

The girl probably needs financial lemon-aid to pay it.

Sensationalised slightly. They fined the father. The council has since apologised and withdrawn the fine. This was the act of a single person.

Actually it was the act of 4 officers, none of them possessed common sense.
