Children are an at risk group, nobody should be allowed on school premises with their identity concealed. Wear the burka all you like out and about in public spaces or at home, but when in a facility with security concerns and at risk individuals you should be identifiable at all times.

That it wasn't a written policy is the oversight here.

OK, could have just asked for ID.
The face veil is unnecessary, it's more of a cultural garment. The burka can be a security risk so I agree with the school.

Which to be corroborated would require her to be unveiled.

And if your next argument is that she can briefly identify herself then put her veil back on, then what happens if you have dozens of parents on the premises in the same attire?

If an incident were to happen then no one would be able to identify who it was. A concealed identity is unacceptable when there are security concerns.

Would the ID show a woman with a face veil, then?

No.
This is pretty dramatic. She was "shaken" and "broke down" and left feeling like she "didn't belong"? It's not that deep. You could just wear a detachable niqab and put it back on once you leave the school premises. Rules are rules. People don't complain about not being allowed to park around school gates.

The voice of reason.

She was "shaken" and "broke down" and left feeling like she "didn't belong"? Of course... until she found out about the compensation she might be able to get and the fee for the story if she sold it.

She felt a bit better after that.

No.

Exactly. She still has to remove her veil to prove that's she the woman in the photo. This would literally have to occur every day she collects her child or enters the premises.

Fair point.
What a waste of the judge's time

I agree and disagree. Women shouldn't be told what to wear, plain and simple. Let them wear whatever they desire.

The school is private property, its their rule. Either follow it or don't go.

This woman is a vexatious litigant, what a waste of the court's time. If she wins her lawyer will be enriched as will she, and the public purse impoverished. To what good end?

The more incidents there are like this, the more the division grows between non Muslims and non non Muslims.

Many will feel If she is so unhappy with this, why doesn't she go and live in a country where she would be forced to wear a burka anyway? Like Afghanistan?

Why are you so offended that someone is trying to pursue what they feel is their right? Are you equally offended that a gay man took a pension company to court and won in terms of equality?

The courts will have their say and if you are really so incensed about it you could always lobby your local MP and start a campaign to have the law changed rather than whinging on here? Surely that is the wonderful aspect of having a justice system accessible to all rather than the nature of those who choose to use the court system?

We will see what transpires. Maybe this will be thrown out of court, I doubt it, but maybe. That would be the system working.

But assuming it does come to court it is a monumental waste of everyone's time. The lawyers will be paid, handsomely, and we will all pay as taxpayers. Because you can bet your life Niqab Nora won't spend a penny on this herself.

As for having a justice system accessible to all are you for real? It is a system for the rich and people like her, who will have her legal fees paid for by somebody or other, either in legal aid, or by a leftie and or Islamist group for political reasons. The average person in this country can't afford justice.
So I can walk into a school with a blacked out motorcycle helmet or a welding mask?

Rules are there for safeguarding reasons to protect the children.
