Any current/former organ scholars that could help me out please?
i graduated highschool this year and will attend a university in my home country (in asia)
i started the organ this year just after my graduation. (always played the piano)
it seems like an amazing opportunity as an organ scholar getting to do any (at least in some colleges) academic disciplines but also get a chance to be so involved in music and learn from the world class music teachers (yes, i love church music!!)
they said online that organ scholars are expected an at least ABRSM grade 8 standard. i just started preparing for the exam and will complete by the year of entry.
    here are my questions:
    some technical ones first:
did anyone got in without a grade 8?
at Cambridge they required a conducting interview too, what about at Oxford? is that okay if i dont know conducting at all but am willing to pick it up now?
as i understand most organ scholars are public school students, do they take international students as well?
will being at an overseas university right now (as in not a highschool student right now but also not working in a cathedral) put me at disadvantage?

apart from the technical questions , can you share more about your experiences as an organ scholar? also, the differences between the work and traditions working as an organ scholar at different colleges? i know that i am not of standard to apply to the choral foundations. but the other colleges doesnt seem to offer too much information apart from the amount of bursary for lessons and service times are usually 2-3 times a week.... so I cant tell which college if i should apply to..
also, how should i prepare for the audition?
    thanks a lot!

The Organ Scholarship is pretty rare and you will be lucky to find a fellow applicant or current scholar on TSR - but fingers crossed...

I can say though that yes you will need an interview at both Oxford and/or Cambridge.

    Have you read

    And https://www.undergraduate.study.cam....ds_booklet.pdf

Which academic course are you considering? Note that some colleges restrict the courses for scholars if it's not Music.
