When should I come out? Watch

I've known that I'm a lesbian for a few years now and I don't want to hide this from my parents anymore. I've not told anybody apart from my three best friends. I'm not scared of my parents reactions and I'm sure they will be supportive but I'm a bit embarrassed and it's making telling them face-to-face really difficult for me.

Should I tell them now or wait until I'm at uni in September? My plan was to leave a note on their bed when I left which they would then find when they got home after dropping me off at uni. However, my friends think that I should tell them in person so that we can have a proper conversation about it. I have been wanting to come out to them for a while but I just can't bring myself to do it. I trust my friends a lot but since not many people know my situation I just wanted some extra opinions. Thanks.

Come out however and whenever is most comfortable for you! The ideal is probably telling them face to face, but it's certainly not the only way. If you'd be happier leaving them a note, then that's a fine way too

A note seems so impersonal, tbh. Your friends are right. This is the sort of conversation you need to have face to face with your parents. And if you know that they will support you and won't be upset then there is nothing to fear.
