Hey Guys, I bumped into a problem lately. I'm an undergraduate fresher who's going to be studying in Goldsmiths this Sep. As an international student I'm currently in the hell of applying visa and arranging all kind of stuff before leaving for London. A few days ago I was informed that there's this one-day event called Goldstart. The event overall sounds quite intriguing, and I'm especially draw to the part of people get to meet their new classmates for the first time. I have no connection in Britain and speak not so polish English. Those factors kind of doubled my anxiety toward uni life and this event seems to be helpful for those who feel the similar way. But if I want to go to Goldstart I'll have to pay for many extra expenses, like hotel and expensive plane ticket. For those who have attended Goldstart before. Do you recommend Goldstart or it's just a bunch of people sitting in silence and smiling to one another awkwardly. For those who didn't, did you feel left out or hard to join the conversation because of not attending? Please help.

Ps. Thanks for reading all this rumbling. Wish you all a nice day

I'm starting in September aswell so I can't answer as someone whose been, but it seems like it'll be great for course introductions.

Socially speaking, most of that should happen throughout the following months & with your flat mates rather than at goldstart to be honest.

There's enough to stress about lol don't put even more on your plate. I've lived close to the uni if you have any questions I'll do my best x

Oh god thanks so much. You're right, I kinda get the sense that in uni timing (especially just one day) doesn't really matter when it comes finding squat and stuffs. Perhaps it's just the panic attack kicking in and I have no outlet to express my anxiety. Anyway, I'll still go at the beginning of Sep cus I'll have to look for houses LOL. I sent my appli passed the ddl and now I'm on waiting list .
