Do I need to register anywhere for clearing or can I just ring around universities on results day?

You'll need to eventually register on and apply through UCAS - but to begin with you can just start calling (and/or emailing) them, and then if they say "we'd like to consider you, please submit an application on UCAS" then...do that

If you miss your choices, UCAS will auto you into clearing.
Wake up early and check ucas at 8am to see if you are accepted or not
Have a lst of unis who you wana call
Call at 9am, nice and sharp because clearing lines fill up fast
They will go through your name, age, UCAS number, grades and quickly assess if you are eligible.
Call all the unis you can before you accept a uni place because you can only accept one on UCAS.

Have you completed an UCAS application? If not that will be needed and you should do it now (especially as you need a reference).
