    Hi,
I'm planning on applying to Cardiff University to study French and Politics but I can't make the open day. I am trying to decide as to whether I should visit on a self guided tour and visit the city and see if I like it or if it's not worth it. I'm wondering how is student life is in Cardiff and how expensive it is for the second year.
    Thanks!

I've lived in Cardiff for my entire life and its a really good place to live as its a big enough city to have lots to do but also small enough to be easy to get around

I'd suggest you came down to visit Cardiff first though just to see how you feel about the city

I'm also applying to cardiff (but for a PhD)....got to visit it in January. Seemed like a pretty nice city from what i saw, would definitely consider living there off the back of that. As said above by TrelaiBoy....big enough to have pretty much everything you want, small enough to get there by walking. By the looks of if at least.

I am living in Cardiff on September, coming from a capital as Madrid I am happy that Cardiff is smaller, full of students, exciting nightlife and lovely places. Then I saw that it is one of the cheapest cities in the UK which sounds pretty appealing

Hey! I'm a Cardiff uni French and Spanish graduate. Would highly recommend the languages/ politics department as it's small and super friendly. French lecturers were ace. Cardiff as a city is FANTASTIC. Small capital, loads going on, cheap, really friendly, great nightlife and there's a lot of green spaces. Easy access to amazing countryside and beaches (Brecon Beacons, Gower, Pembrokeshire etc). Had the best time of my life there as a student. Would really recommend visiting the city and going on an open day if you can. Let me know if you need any more info!
