Little sympathy, I'm afraid. If the "Palestinians" want to violently protest against common sense security measures then they deserve what they get.

Shame on you for allowing the media to manipulate you so easily. This reminds me of [X country] who had a political riot several years ago. The media spun the story and made the protestors look innocent and the police and government guilty... but we, the locals of that country, know better because those were violent and barbaric protestors who killed several policemen. So when the policemen defended themselves, the whole world turned against the country and accused the government for being unjust towards the protestors. What a load of bullcrap.

The world is so fast to judge things and so blind to believe anything they read online.

In this case, you were not there so you don't know who picked the first fight.

Didn't think I had to remind everyone, but clearly I do. If we're to have genuine debates in this section, then referring to people as nutjobs or dicks isn't the way to go. So I'd ask that if there's something insulting you take offence to, report it, get on with the debate/discussion rather than perpetuating the issue. I've cleaned out the thread so hopefully this gets back on track.

The Israeli state allows access to Muslims to the Temple Mount and it is under Islamic control. Israeli enforces a ban on non-Muslims praying there. To suggest that is somehow not a moderate or reasonable position stretches credulity.

Jews themselves have, in the past, had very restricted access to their religious sites in the region. There are special security checks for Jews who wish to enter the Temple Mount - searching and confiscating any religious items. They are then escorted.

There has been plenty of examples of where the Temple Mount has been used in harmful ways: from modern attacks on Jewish worshippers at the Western Wall to its use during the Arab Revolt. Security is a concern of both communities.

Muslims are not being prohibited from worshipping there, they simply have to go through a security check. I'm not sure the International Criminal Court is in the business of regulating the right to take weapons into holy sites.

Well, quite. If the police have behaved improperly, they should be held to account. People dying in the midst of a violent riot does not demonstrate that they have acted improperly.

On what basis do you suggest those who died in the riot were "innocent" (and, conversely, imply that the Israeli police were somehow guilty of some wrongdoing)?

We have Israelis on they streets blatantly wishing to kill Arabs and calling the Arabs the enemy of Israel,so I actually don't think twice what the motive might be for killing Palestinians. So sad when you're a stranger in your own home.
