History at Edinburgh has a AAA-ABB grade range- does this mean you could feasibly get offers anywhere in this range, or is it mostly AAA unless they have to contextualise and give you a lower offer based on tricky circumstances?

ABB are the minimum requirements. AAA are the typical offer grades, meaning most applicants receiving offers will (supposedly) have AAA. But I wouldn't take that too seriously. Anyone within the range are given equal consideration. Someone with ABB + Exceptional PS and reference probably has a better chance than someone with AAA + Mediocre PS and reference.

Most people will be in the typical offers range, but lots of people still get lower offers. If you're within range, apply!

Don't get too hung up on grade guidelines, as they are exactly that. You can get an offer anywhere within that grade range and in some circumstances, outwith it too.

If you're around that level of academic ability then ace your application and it should be all good.
