I've been in private housing for two years and this'll be my first time in halls, I picked Catherine House around January/February because I've got some spare cash and thought I'd go for it.

It seems great but it's nearly August and I've yet to receive any information about rooms or moving in. When I asked they said they could allocate me on the second floor - that's the most information I got.

Admittedly I should've gone for a viewing but I trusted my gut and went with these halls anyway. I heard they have kitchenettes in the room (I asked that guy Joe on the contact page and he confirmed the rooms do in fact have small kitchens), but now I'm starting to think it's all suspicious.

What do you all think? Is this normal with halls? And anyone who went for a viewing, was it nice?

I know details regarding my block, flat, room number and floor. Was your email to them within the last week or two? And also did you apply through the university or with TSHC directly?
The studio flats have kitchenettes, and therefore no access to a shared kitchen/living space. However the standard rooms don't have a built in kitchen area, making them significantly cheaper. I have secured a standard room and paid the deposit just over a fortnight ago.

It was with TSHC directly because I'm second year so that's probably why. I'm guessing they sort out first years before everyone else. I last emailed them in June over another issue and asked when I'll get the info, they said a month or two so if it comes middle of August and still no details, that'd probably be the best time for a concern.

And that makes sense, I did indeed take a studio flat. Pricey but I think it'll be worth it.

Yeah I should think the reason you haven't been given specific details yet is because you aren't 'prioritised'. All of the first years will be dealt with first so just imagine it's like you're at the bottom of the pile. But if you have been offered a room and confirmed this choice I'm sure there's nothing to worry about. Just sit sight. I know people in their first year who haven't had any more info than you at this point

Hello, Hannah from the UoP housing team here! It sounds like you are a "direct let" customer, but just so long as you have accepted the room offer they have sent you, The Student Housing Company will be in contact with you to pay the deposit directly (either by telephone or email). Our Freshers are starting to get info through from them (there are a lot of people so please bear with them!) so I don't think they will be much longer to get in touch )

Is there anything else I can help with at all? If you need to contact The Student Housing Co directly, here are their details:-
