Terry Deary, the writer of Horrible Histories, was on Celebrity Mastermind on Friday. He told John Humphrys that he doesn't know anything about history and that Horrible Histories is about teaching kids human nature - not history.

While Deary does have a team of researchers that give him the context so he can create the stories, he insists on missing out details such as dates because he believes they are not important.

    What do you think?

He had better change the title of his programme then. What a joke tbh.

are you seriously joking right now? horrible histories made learning history much more fun and made revising for history is easier. I learnt more in one episode than a whole year learning it at school. and it's proper funny so all the better!

Terry deary, you're doing amazing sweetie.

I swear I used to collect all the books! It was Horrible Histories where I learnt that Henry VIII only had 6 wives  kinda broke my heart to hear that the books aren't about teaching kids history...

I always kinda figured that was the case anyway. It was about teaching things in a historical context more than actual history
