"Well paid" is a fairly relative term, as the relative quality of life for a job paying the same in a rural country parish vs metropolitan London would be vastly different due the costs of living in those areas, among other factors. As for "well respected"...prestige is more or less irrelevant, which I appreciate is hard to understand when you're younger (as I've been there) but as you mature more, you will realise that doing something for intrinsic reasons, rather than external factors, is much more important to you and rewarding.
In any case, there are not "literally no females in engineering" - the gender gap has narrowed considerably in most areas of engineering, and continues to do so. There are a great deal of outreach and funding programmes aiming to get more women involved in STEM generally, and engineering specifically, so it's not something where you will be disadvantaged per se. The lack of women in engineering is a reason to pursue it, not a reason not to!
