If Britain joins in a free trade and mutual freind ship union with Russia and possibly Czech Republic it could hugely benefit Northern England which has high levels of deprivation. Here's how....

Following Brexit the channel ports at Dover etc will go into decline as it becomes harder to travel to and from Europe added to that trade restrictions etc. There will be economic decline in the south east as a result.

A union with Russia could see the car ferry ports at Newcastle and Hull grow massively as ferry services are launched to St Petersburg. It's only a 12-14 hour crossing between Newcastle and St Petersburg.

It's likely Britain will see and economic tilt as people leave the once prosperous south east and head north to a new prosperity.

Russia the destination of choice for Brits post Brexit.
Russia will become the short haul destination of Brits after the doors to France and the rest of Western Europe are closed, only if we form a union with Russia.

This will greatly help the development of HS2 and HS3 linking London with Newcastle and Hull.

Russian businessmen will invest in Seaside resorts like Blackpool and Skegness bolstering their economies and returning them to the tourist metropolises they once were. Trendy casinos and nightclubs privuded by Russian investors will see many Russians and Czechs travel to our restored seaside towns. Property prices up north will rise rapidly and the reciprocal is true too. Mr Putin had previously offered free land to Brits on Russia's Pacific rim coast rife for development.

South west Naval cities like Plymouth will benefit too
Its likely a union with Russia will encourage deployment of Russian naval and military forces to Britain. Cities like Plymouth which were once naval hubs will become bases of the Russian Naval fleet that will protect Britain from the ever increasing threats from ISIS etc. The Russians can only dream of having an Atlantic Naval base and union with Russia can make this possible. Plymouths deprived economy will grow rapidly as Russians settle and trade in the city and no go areas like Swilly will become prime real estate.

Union with Russia is a win win scenario!

Long live the Great President Putin! And may Anglo-Russian relations prosper.

Your last troll was about combining with Russia and the Czech republic? Why have you dropped the Czechs? Where does the ISIS airforce fit into all this?

I did actually mention union with Czech Republic too in some parts of my text. Russian military forces will protect the UK from the threat of ISIS from ground sea or air attack. You should see that massive military hovercraft Russian marines use.....

Anyway how is it trolling? In a few years Britain will be on its own, Russia is the only nearest freindly nation. I mean we cant have a union with Australia can we? You can't get to Australia in a car ferry in as little as 14 hrs. More like 14-30 days.

Russia has the economy the size of Benelux, so switching the entire EU (de facto biggest economy in the world) to something the size of Benelux is not a good idea.

As a Finnish person I have always found Russophilia in the UK to be interesting

How can this phenomenon be explained sociologically? I don't know, but my initial hypothesis would be that it is something to do with social identities of past superpowers: British Empire thought of itself as exceptional colonising force with its distinct (from the rest of the West) Anglo-Saxon sub-type of more wider Western civilisation, whereas Russia traditionally thought of itself as the Third Rome, with Messianic ambitions for the world, and also a distinct Orthodox Christian civilisation juxtaposed to the West. Puritanical movements were present in both countries.

Interesting.
