Hi, this is Wishful Thinking. I am considering applying to UEA and Portsmouth for Accounting and Finance. UEA's ranking is higher but I am worried that the Accounting and Finance degree does not have a placement year. Experience seems to matter and I am worried about completing my degree without meaningful relevant experience. I know that there is a grad scheme but my C in GCSE Maths might hold me back even if I end up getting good enough grades to make it into UEA. Any comments?

You are right that experience does matter and whilst a placement year would be great, you do still have two long summers to get work experience, many organisations run summer placement schemes. Doing a placement year won't cancel out your C in Maths GCSE for those companys that use it as a filter.

Thanks jelly1000, that's helpful to know.
