How hard is the NPLQ (lifeguarding qualifiication) watch

    • Thread Starter

I'm doing this next week and I'm wondering how difficult it actually is. I think i should be ok with the swims since i swim for a club and can usually manage 50m in less than 30 secs. However, I'm only 16 and I'm not sure how well I'll be able to do with towing a casualty etc. Is the theory part difficult?

When I did mine I was in the same situation: 16 and swam for a club.
I wouldn't worry about the difficulty too much, as long as you're going in there with the mindset that the course is going to be a total info dump on your brain. The theory isn't too bad, as long as you put in a bit of work at home. The parts I found hard were learning the laws, acronyms and more complicated bits of first aid.
As you're already a swimmer, the practical elements shouldn't be too hard for you. You'll be in the water a lot during the course and have plenty of time to practice all the physical stuff.
Any other questions let me know.
