Student loan only £9,250?

I'm planning to hopefully start studying a degree with the OU and have been doing lots of research.

From what i've read about student loans is that it's only £9,250? Well, it isn't only £9,250 - that's a lot of money of course, and i would be very grateful, but the degree would cost double that.

Am i missing or misunderstanding something?

If i'm not, how do people pay the other half?

that's the max per year.

However an OU degree course doesn't cost £9,250 per year. It's less.

Ah really? So do you apply again after first year?

Yeah, the courses are around £17-18k.

Hi jaczers,

The tuition fees for part-time in 17/18 are up to £6935 per academic year. You would also apply every academic year for funding.
