    Hey

I'm starting my first year in September but as a mature student I'm not sure about living in halls. Can anyone provide info on living in private accommodation? Like price and commuting etc.

    Thanks

How mature are you? id suggest you talk to the accommodation office. You can talk to them about being puts somewhere quieter or with other mature students? the advantage of uni accommodation is better/ known landlord plus you get to make friends.

A lot of private halls normally exist and they will be full of second and third years (not exclusively) so you might be no better off.

Your other option is private rented. If you are really bothered about age then maybe try and go on a third year or better still a postgraduate houseshare. The thing you will miss out on is a key way to make friends with other freshers. You might be prematurely isolating yourself, but if you are confident then it can be overcome through other means.

You might as well start looking at

Plus start researching local letting agents and ask the accommodation office if they have a list as well. Sometimes they organsie find a flat mate, although i cant guarantee Ulster does such things. many unis do.

I note Ulster has more than one campus, so you should also use a map to see where accommodation is relative to your department.
