Hi, I've just turned 18 and I want to make sure I have some ID (other than my passport) to use when I go to Uni. What would people recommend ordering? I was thinking of getting a provisional license, is this appropriate ID for getting into places, buying alcohol etc.?

A driver's licence (or provisional) is the best way to go. You don't want to be carrying your passport around at a club.

That was my thought. I just don't want to order one and then it not be a suitable ID, as obviously it's not a full licence. Thanks for the confirmation!

A licence is a licence - everywhere will accept it.

Would an ID card be suitable as well? I'm just thinking because it's cheaper!

Most pubs, shops, and clubs only accept "official" documents such as a passport or driving license. They won't accept student ID cards, bus passes, NUS cards, or anything like that.

No. The PASS scheme is a joke. Go for something government issued as you know it'll be accepted.
