If women have athletic physiques (lean, slight muscle definition/gym bod) is this generally preferable to untoned softer/slightly overweight physiques? Or are women wasting their time putting effort in at the gym with weights/cardio to achieve the lean toned look to attract men? Its just ive seen overweight women and guys say they like their body and they prefer curves/something to hold onto. Allmen like different but I was wondering is this the general opinion of men.

You shouldn't go to the gym to impress others.

A lot of people go for their own health benefits, attracting men can come as part of the package.

So theres no incentive for girls, then when women get to middle age having developed a sedentary lifestyle because men just wanted 'da ass' men then complain the women are saggy ya know.

After a searching images for about two hours now (srs) I've come to the conclusion that women with athletic physiques are more attractive on average to me personally than those with slightly overweight physiques. My ideal physique I've decided would be like a gym bod, but with just enough added body fat as to soften the appearance and provide an adequate amount of 'jiggle room', as I call it, without tarnishing the overall figure.

Yes but you also have face, personality, status etc to take into account.
Not all men think the same and you could be relatively average but have great curves, which would appeal more to some men over sparrow and no curves or overly muscular (rare).

Its worth it for your own health, but shouldnt be an obsession.

Depends on the guy. Different people have different tastes. If you're really into gym/sports, then yeah someone who's also into those things is likely to like having a lean, fit girlfriend. If you're just doing it to impress people then most non-sporty guys I've met aren't really fussed, so long as you're not morbidly obese.
