Like Nigel did? Because that worked out so well for him and his party didn't it?

Indeed it did, considering Brexit is going ahead, you know, the initial point of UKIPs creation

That's the point. He's not exactly rags to riches is he.

He also never learnt to ride a horse with a blindfold. Both irrelevant considering Brexit won, the whole point of his political career

I never said he was, doesn't mean we should take away the fact he made millions himself

We are going off-topic - but it's much easier to make money if you have money to start with.

By the way, are you sure he has "made" millions - as opposed to taking a very healthy salary from the EU, etc?

    Agreed.

He made a sizeable sum from his stockbroking

That isn't filling the majority of grad jobs. Maybe if you said top 50 unis people would take you a bit more seriously. But a huge chunk of the skilled workforce come from places like Leeds, Loughborough, Leicester, Nottingham etc. IDK how you can just say they deserve to shut down. Also if a uni shuts down then what would happen to the town if a lot of shops rely on them? What about all the money lost from international students? You're just trolling. The economic impacts would be ridiculously high.

I'm talking Oxbridge, LSE, Imperial and certain courses at Warwick, UCL, Durham etc.. That would reduce the number of (dumb) people going to uni and so the (clever) people who do go should get no tuition costs.

P.S. sorry for the typo in the title It should be unis*
That is just stupidity. People mature at different points in life. Someone from a bad university could end up doing very well in their job. Alternatively, they could end up at a top institute for post-graduate studies.

However, having thought on it, I do see one reason why the ex-poly's get a bad rap..... they end up charging you the same 9k per year as oxford, cambridge etc, and tbh they don't provide anything like the facilites, education standards, alumni network or kudos the others do. When I look at it that way, it makes ex-poly's like UWE etc seem a tad overpriced
Actually that isn't totally correct - some of the Engineering facilities are FAR better. In addition, standards are moderated between unis by visiting staff from other unis. Alumni networks build up over time so that will change.

Some of the best teaching [look at the recent ratings] is not at the RG unis.

I think you forget that certain universities specialise in different subjects particularly well. Just because a university ranks highly overall, it doesn't mean it ranks particularly highly for your specific course.

Your overall point is right, BUT the TEF is a load of horsesh1t that actually has nothing to do with assessing the standard of teaching.

I know someone who got 2A's and 2A*'s at A level who went to Cambridge, but I know someone with 3A*s and 1A plus an A in EPQ who didn't go to a 'prestigious' university, and is now happier and earning more than the Cambridge graduate. Don't be a snob, different universities and courses interest different people regardless of academic capability.
