PGCE: Citizenship at Sheffield Hallam or Social Sciences at Manchester Met

Hi,

I have offers from both and don't know which one to choose. I am assuming social sciences would be better for job prospects.

Sheffield Hallam is better for me location wise.

Has anyone studied either of these OR studied any PGCE at either SHU or MMU and can provide me with some feedback or their thoughts?

Thanks in advance

I was going to say social sciences, but looking at the syllabus it seems to cover sociology and psychology? I'd say they were medium popularity?

Citzienship is specialist imo and niche, but sheffield also ive you some backup with RE, Geography or History.

Visit them, have a look at job vacancies, see how many students get jobs.
Your choice as to what you enjoy teaching.

If I was a student then id rather go to Sheffield as a place to study, more manageable, ut completely your choice. A visit to both would help you clarify.

Thanks for your input 999tigger. Personally psychology is my favourite subject.

It is hard to find information online, I hear conflicting things about citizenship for example some people say citizenship is a subject in which a lot of schools just get other subject teachers to cover.

Personally I thought psychology and sociology are more popular than citizenship but then you have a valid point that you can also teach history and RE.

I guess I'll keep looking at which subjects have more job vacancies and do more research
