Just curious to see if anyone has begun preparing for AS? I have done a fair bit, but I already have my GCSE results so I am sure on the subjects I am doing. If you have begun reading about, what subjects are you looking to take?

So far I have done...

English Literature:

Frankenstein (Finished)
The Handmaidens Tale (pg100)
A Streetcar named Desire (Finished)

History:

Russia 1881-1924 by Michael Lynch (Finished)
Lenin 1917-24 (Government) notes (Finished)
Lenin 1717-24(Agricultural and economic change) notes (finished)
Stalin 1924-53 ( Agricultural and economic change) notes (finished)
Stalin 1924-53(Government) notes (finished)

Impressive, but do take a rest and enjoy some of the summer or you will burn out and become jaded. Reading your texts is a good idea though.

Another way you can revise easily is to watch documentaries.

I'd check what exam board you'll be doing and read the books in preperation for lit. And do some research on the topics you'll be doing in History. Will make your life slightly easier in the longrun.

Yeah, we are doing the "science and society" theme from the WJEC board.

Wow well done! If you are considering English or History at university you already have a lot to write about in your personal statement next year .

I feel like you have done enough for AS in my opinion its better to work in the summer after AS, I just finished AS and I plan on practicing some essays for History, doing hwk, perfecting my geography coursework and EPQ research (just did work exp this week so I am starting tomorrow)

Yeah, hopefully, I will be able to do History and English in uni. I have only done so much to account for some possible appointments etc in early September.

That's a lot of work, well done. But please, enjoy your summer. Despite the work you've done so far for history being impressive, you don't want to burn yourself out for AS. The summer I had before a levels was the best summer of my life, as I had absolutely no responsibilities. I didn't do any prep and I'm looking at 4 A* predictions for A2. It's not necessary to make all of those notes, especially when this summer is one of the only ones you can get away with doing absolutely nothing in. Reading texts for lit however was a very smart move because it's always nice to familiarise yourself with the novels before you study them. You'll probably be the only one who has done this much prep though, so really it just seems pointless to do much more.

As someone who just finished their A Levels, please, please take a break and don't push yourself too hard. Be prepared to put the work in once you reach the classroom . Most people turn up to A Levels having read nothing at all in advance and manage to get everything done, but it's great you're this far ahead.
