Which degree is best suited for me?

Not sure if it's the right forum but I'm having trouble picking a degree that I'm 100% confident I want to do and I need some help :s-smilie:

To start off, I'm not a massively academic person my grades are very average. As cliche as it sounds I always wanted to be a doctor but the only route for me would be graduate entry (which was the plan). I did a year of Psychology (last minute choice after I didn't get into Biomed at a RG uni) and I managed to get a first so I'm not exactly dumb but I absolutely hated the course due to the stats content which was a large part of it.

So now I'm going back and forth, probably had a look at every single degree that's available. I considered Nursing which would be suited to my interests but I'm worried I will hate the job being next to medics? I'm also worried there is not a lot of room for career progression due to pay freezes etc, I would like to live comfortably and would do further courses such as management/advanced practitioner. Just to clarify - I have some experience in healthcare due to my interest in med it's not something I thought of out of the blue.

I have no interest in finance/economics/maths/engineering, the only other things that I considered is Law but with my very average profile I doubt I would be successful. Another thing I considered is English which is a very vague degree and as much as I love English I'm not sure if my interest is big enough to last through 3 years of BA, masters etc... then potentially go down the route of teaching which again would mean sticking with English. I have considered science but I would only do it if I was guaranteed a place at a med school otherwise I can't imagine working in a lab.

As I used my gift year with SFE I only have one choice left which I have to be sure with :frown:

So overall I am a person with interests in biology; things like anatomy, diseases, why things things happen within our bodies (Biomed pretty much), literature and art, I am a very creative person and I'm quite talented when it comes to art, also things like history - humanities in general (I am not sure if humanities is something I would do long term or is it just what I'm good at and have a vague interest in) no interest in things like maths/physics

As a person I am kind and extroverted, I love helping people, I am very communicative and very much a person who loves working in a team -hence all the healthcare jobs that I considered but sometimes I lack confidence and I'm rather emotional

Sorry for the essay but any thoughts???
Nursing would suit your interests and although the pay isn't great, it will be easy to find employment. As you gain more experience, you will get promoted with more pay.

On the other hand, I would go for English. English would suit your interest in literature, and it is a degree that has many transferrable skills, opening up the doors to further study and academia, or numerous career paths. Having said that, you would need to concentrate on getting the relevant work experience for getting the graduate job alongside your studies. Picking English won't help you with picking a career, so you will still need to think on what path you want to take after graduating.

Having read your post, you do mention that you only have vague interests and are not sure if you can sustain your interest long enough to complete a degree. In this case, I would suggest taking some time out rather than rushing into a degree only to quit later, wasting your time and money. If possible, talk to a careers adviser - they can help you with what options you could take. Perhaps take some time to travel, volunteer, maybe get some paid work or work experience. This will help you get a more concrete idea on what your interests are and what you want to do. If you wanted to go to uni, you can make a more informed choice this way. There is no rush to go to uni, many people go to study later on in life.

Archaeology - it would combine all your interests and you can specialise in human remains and evidence of disease in them etc.
