The Student Room Group

Short temper

I need this to be anon, my friend uses this forum. I'm a guy, 17 years old, year 13. Delete otherwise.

I have a really short temper.

Lots of people at my college dont like me. I've been with quite a few of the best looking girls in my school and guys spread rumours (out of jealousy as far as my friends tell me) and other guys tend to not like me because of this. Therefore I have developed a massive hate group.

I have a close group of friends who I get on with and love to call my best friends (including my girlfriend).

Basically, the boys who ARE NOT my close friends always pick on me. I know its really sad but I'm not very witty and cant give smart remarks back, so I laugh along with them and just ignore the comments. I usually tend to walk away from the situation, however sometimes the situation follows me and I lose my temper.

Especially in games, for example we might be playing a sport, a computer game or a card/board game and they always plot toghether to make me lose. I know these are petty things, however gradually it all builds up and I just lose it.

I really lose it. In a flash I'll have grabbed them and pushed them against the wall, or started a swearing frenzy. I'm really scared I might punch somebody one day...

This situation is very simular to Adam Sandler in that Anger Management film.

Please help me, I dont know how to control my anger.

I am not a expert, but it seems u bottle up your feelings and then release your anger on the next person who silghtly annoys you. I personally think it will help if u talked to your college's connections adviser about your anger.
This may sound cheesy, but its for yor benefit and may help you in the long run.

Thing is, I dont actually think I can control it. I've tried so hard it just comes out all at once :s-smilie:

Hmmm.....
I personally think it would be a brilliant idea to join martial arts club.
The following reasons are: *Helps stress relief through exercise
*It will increase self-confidence and self-control
* Helps create a positive mental approach in general

It widely known that practising a martial art can help a person control their temper. This with a little with your college private One on One with your college counsuller (if your college has one), Will certainlly help u alot.

Also about, these boys that keep on picking on you, they sound to me like total morons

That is actually REALLY good advice. I'll look into it man...thanks! Rep coming your way.

They are morons yeah, I can kinda see where they're coming from. If somebody went out with the girl I fancied, I'd be jealous too.

I'm seen as a male slut (not naturally...it just happens), most of my ex's hate me and help this hate group become even larger. Meh, it sucks...cant wait to get away from my college.

Most of the guys who peed me off today (Wont tell the story just in case somebody picks up on it and realises this is me posting) fancy my current girlfriend. Two of them have asked her out in the past and been rejected...so yeah I can see where they're coming from. She actually stood up for me today (not in a manly way...she just kinda said "wow you guys are immature") and this made them even more angry at me.

Blah. :frown:

You could always see someone about it? I have a very short temper and have considered seeing someone as all kinds of advice given on anger websites or whatever ("just take deep breathes and count to 10") is just crap, it doesn't do anything because I don't think when I'm angry, I can't, I just act.
