Magdalene

This is from the alternative prospectus:

"Not famed for its academic success, Magdalene languishes at the bottom of the league tables, and seems unable to shake off this poor record. People here appear to work hard, but in comparison they clearly don't achieve as highly. Be aware of this if you are planning to apply."

Does anyone know if this is true or is it a bit of a generalisation? Is it possible to see inter-collegiate results?

Also does anyone on UKL go to Magdalene - what's it like? Or for those who don't go there, what's the reputation like?

Thanks

Great, thanks a lot.

Yeah, it just struck me that Oxford had one too.

You can tell the difference: Oxford's lacks a final E. Magdalene at Cambridge, Magdalen at Oxford. Both are pronounced the same though, and nothing like they're spelt. Oxbridge quirkiness for you

Thats an unfair comment seeing as it's done better than the likes of Sidney, Corpus, Fitzwilliam, Robinson and Girton this year.

Yeah I saw that on the league tables. I think the AP is out of date. I'm applying to Trinity anyway.

I thought you'd already applied, based on your in-depth knowledge of what Cambridge look for in potential students?

Going by that, you should have applied as well Jools .
Find out who says you're not snoggable btw?

Yeah I am re-applying. You know a lot about Cambridge:

a. For someone at Oxford, and

b. For someone who must have little time to spend on internet forums/Cambridge websites considering how much extra-curricular activity you partake in.

a. For someone at Oxford

Doesn't exactly mean I don't know anything about Cambridge. 3 years ago I was in the same shoes as a lot of people here regarding which one to go for. Incidentally I'm one of three people behind this.

Noooooooo!

I'd actually love to apply to Trinity, but it all seems somehow a bit scary for me. Bit of a stupid attitude to take, I know, since Cambridge will take you if you're good enough, Trinity's actually not too bad by virtue of being large, blah blah...but it's still Trinity at Cambridge it's just overload!

I think I feel more of an affinity for nice ickle Pembroke now anyway  And highly cool though Byron is, I don't think he can match the coolness of Bill Oddie, lol.
i don't think it's thought of as being particularly academic, but i've never known anyone think of it as 'underachieving'...i suppose it depends on subject, really - their arch & anthers always seem to get firsts!

Ah now that sounds like a college decision to be honest
