Magdalene

Sounds like a bit of a generalisation to me - I know a few people at Magdalene, and though one of them didn't particularly liked it and swopped to Newnham for her post-grad degree, I don't think any of them could be described as working hard without much result.

To be honest i don't really like Magdalene that much, i didn't know that it was apparently "underachieving" (but again which college in oxbridge r...), but the college has always struck me as a little sexist... i mean its ok if you are a guy, but for a girl that school is a big turn off....

Their attitude to women is less than pleasing...really... first hand experience at opening day...(i'm applying next year, but went to the opening days with my friend who is applying this year~ she is applying to Emma btw...)

In what ways in Magdalene anti-woman? I visited on a General open day and found them fine in that respect...

Magdalen rather than Magdalene? (Magdalene Cambridge doesn't have a school attached)

They were the last Oxbridge college to admit women. And when they did, they wore black armbands in protest.

Unfortunately, no-one but myself seems to find this funny... I'm off to Magdalene next year, deferred entry.

I wouldn't speak too soon. It sounds hilarious.
Aggh. *breathes* Competition...Trinity, English. The stress of CAF forms and personal statements...

Mind you, I chose Trinity based on things other than Byron. I was slightly freaked by the Arts students on the Open Day I went to declaring their love for him. I spoke to a Fellow while making up my mind, and confessed my fear of English-students-in-love-with-dead-poet and he grinned, and told me Byron would've happily taken advantage of them. That, and the fact that Byron didn't *really* qualify for his degree, made me apply there..

Still...breathing.

Byron was an absolute legend. Not the only reason I have chosen Trinity though!

He was, indeed, an absolute ledge. The bear definitely pushed it over Bill Oddie for me...and the bigness, and beautifulness; and richness

Wilde_Oscar: chill, dude. Just think we could all be sharing a bottle of red wine and discussing Don Juan this time next year...
