Cellular organelle, de novo.

Reply 2

Golgi apparatus is inside animal cells and it converts amino acids into proteins, i think. Eh, I know the products of whatever go on in there are then pinched off into vesicles and transported out of the cell. Its been 2 years since A level biology so may not have anything to do with proteins. Wait for other opinions! Stupid non-memory...

golgi body is an organelle found in eukaryote cells. It basically, processes and packages molecules such as proteins and lipids, and sectretes them in vesicles.

sorry but what exactly do you mean by processes and packages:confused: thanks

oh and have they got anyhting to do with speed?

hey thanks..that site explains it really good...

all animal cells make a large number of different macromolecules (small molecules) required for functrioning and life of the cell. The Golgi body (or apparatus) is essential in modifying, sorting, and "packaging" these substances for cell secretion (known as exocytosis) or for use within and by the cell. It also modifies proteins which are made and then transported here from the rough ER. (endoplasmic reticulum)

The best analogy of it is a post office.
Sorts, labels and then sends out its parcels in little vesicles

hope this helps

what effect would direct stimulation of the muscle have in the presence of curare?

Reply 9

Er, curare is a molecule which has a similar shape to acetylcholine and competes against it for receptor proteins on the post-synaptic membrane. In contrast however, it does not cause a conformational change which opens sodium channels on the post-synaptic membrane. Thus the post-synaptic membrane does not get depolarised, so Ca ion channels don't open, so Ca ions don't move in, so Troponin does not move Tropomyosin and actinmyosin complex can't form, so muscles cannot contract.

yeah I had one but the wheel fell off
