    I'm looking to buy a couple of pairs of smart shoes, but I'm unsure what brands/retailers I should be looking at. Whose shoes look the part and will last me a while?

    I don't know what your budget is, but I would recommend the following shoemakers:

    - John Lobb;
    - Edward Green;
    - George Cleverley;
    - Gaziano & Girling;
    - New & Lingwood;
    - Peal & Co.;
    - Vass;
    - J.M. Weston;
    - Tricker's;
    - Stefano Bremer;
    - Santoni;
    - Crockett & Jones; and
    - Alden.

    Should these be out of budget, you may wish to consider the following instead:

    - Meermin;
    - Carmina; and
    - Loake.

    Can't go wrong with Clarks. They last forever and you can get some nice styles there too.

    LostYouth's list was fantastic.

    I'd add Buttero, Ferragamo and Church's.
    Curiosity: Clarks is perceived as a better brand in Milan/Italy than in the UK.

    Are those brands expensive?
