How would you go about mentioning having a planned gap year in your personal statement? I am unsure of how much detail to go into and also where to place it regarding the structure of the personal statement. Any advice given would be very much appreciated.

I would place it either at the end of your academic bit (if its work-experience related to your course) or at the start of the next bit if its more travel-oriented. It is clear to them from your front page that you are applying for deferred entry, so to show that you are looking at this constructively NOW will be seen as good organisational skills. A clear idea of how you intend spending the time is good (and if you can relate it to something useful you can bring to your course next year, even better!) Try it out in your PS and see where it feels best.
