Rude Girls - BBC2

Did anyone watch it?

If you didn't, I'll fill you in: The film was about teenage girls who were like gangster lads. They terrorised anybody, were racist, discriminated, broke cars, were so violet (smashing peoples faces in with a hard object for £10.00) and oh god were they awful. They talked about getting random people and you wondered if that person could ever be you. These girls had major problems and they were not ashamed to admit it, saying they would care not whether they were dead or alive.

Oddly they all had morals, "not being a hoe", "not being racist", "no discrimination", but obviously they were hypocrits.

I am sick and tired of do-gooders who wont get some strong laws down to proctect the good people of our country. Girls like that (and people) believe rules never apply to them and that's because society shows you don't have to follow them.

I dread to think what life will be like in 50 years time - I say enjoy the freedom whilst it lasts.

What type of laws do you propose to prevent such behaviour?

It left me feeling sick...

This showed the true nature of some individuals who seem to epitomise what society is becoming.

This was a brilliant insight into life on the other side

How did you find it?

How so? the majority of young people in society do not act in this manner.

It isn't as easy as that though. If you put younge people into dention centers from a younge age then you could just be making the person worse. I agree that something must be done but I am unsure that coming down hard on people after they have joined a gang is the best option. Maybe offering alternatives to the gang would be a better option.

Agreed. Magistrates have recently received guidelines that enable a rigid sentencing framework. Also, they are being encouraged to use community penalties wherever possible as opposed to custodial sentences.

Yes but some community sentences should be made longer.

ASBO them.....

BTW - If you spend anytime in rough areas of cities around the UK this kind of situation is becoming more the norm.

Agreed, it was a generalisation about society but more and more people do not consider the consequences of their actions. From this they are neither punished and the vicious cycle continues in a downward spiralling path.

Maybe we should learn from the Jewish, an eye for an eye. Smack them in the face with a large heavy object.

just kidding, throw em in jail for a long time, i'm prepared to let my taxes go to that

Sterilise them. Prevent them from breeding more like them. Those types of people, if that is the correct word, are more likely to have more offspring, therefore passing on their traits, whether by environmental or genetic means to more people. They also tend to produce a greater number of generations of people in a given time, thereby increasing their numbers at an exponetial rate relative to more acceptable people. Therefore sterilisation would drastically lessen the emergance of such people.

This may seem slightly harsh I suppose. But do we want more gangs, criminals and yobs? More crime?
Sterilisation would be a viable part of a long term solution

As you said, that is not going to happen. I think more drastic action is required, as you probably moticed. The rise in crime and general undesirability has positive correlation with the increase in numbers of townies/chavs/whatever you call them, and gangs. However generally to be a member of one of the latter, you must be able to be described as one of the former. Therefore, a possible solution could be the banning of their 'cultural' identity/icons.
These would be as follows.

1. Spoilers, go faster stripes, and other car modifications to rubbish cars.

2. 'Bling' Items, eg: huge chains, excessive wearing of rings, and huge ear studs

3. Adidas '3 stripe' tracksuit bottoms

4. The wearing of a baseball cap underneath the hood of a 'hoodie'

5. Reebok Classics Trainers

6. Rap, especially gangster rap.

7. The wearing of basketball shirts when not playing basketball.

8. The use of the word fuck, and its various derivatives every other word.
The poster ^ there may as well just say invoke communism. Liberals have to be communists at heart to even think of such things. All you ppl do is scream "BAN THIS" and "BAN THAT". Why dont you hire some police with some balls that will go out and put a stop to that crap instead of robbing ppls liberties.

Why the fuck would you want to ban the word fuck? Are you fucking well claiming that only people like that use the word fuck :biggrin:.

maybe we should address the problem of WHY exactly it is that thesse people feel the need to act in such a manor .... something is clearly wrong they were violent , rasist and well to be honest pathetic little girls .... but cant help thinkin that if they were brought up better by their parents given a descent education maybe they would no differnt to you or I ... i cant offer any solutions other than to say maybe look at the cause of the problem rather than the problem its self.

It really upset me.

The people they showed seemed a) to have problems and b) to be very immature. IMO this combination leads to them creating dramas (whether that's beating people up, not paying for a taxi, being racist, being friends and then falling out and then being friends and then falling out) in order to get rid of the emotions that they can't deal with, or maybe don't even know they have.

As much as I can sympathize with them when they're on the TV, I would NOT like to meet them in a dark alley (or a lit one for that matter) because they are totally unreasonable and entirely self-centred! At one point when Stacey was saying to D "nah you can't drink and drive" I thought, "thank goodness, some morals". But then she finished "you might crash and not come back" (and she didn;t mean dying by not coming back). If that was me I would think "you might kill someone else ". I was shocked by how little they thought of other people... just how can people do that?

They did not give a damn about what there stupid actions would do to other people.

I think most people who are caught doing the crimes they do - certainly at their age - is because they demand attention.

If they demand attention could it not be that they could have ADD? If so when arrested they can have tests done at the expense of the state.

If this proves true they are forced to take a course of medicine. This should in return provide us with a more productive work force that covers the cost to society of their damage and testing etc.

Maybe this line of action may prove more effective?!
The Government has to do something about all of this American rubbish being shown on TV and the music being played and sold.

Although many of the things that the girls said were lies, I did find it worrying how they called Police Officers 'Feds' and when that fat ugly thing called Dee was (lieing) talking about her police charge, she called it Grand Theft Auto.

To ban all things related to the Black American Gang culture, we would cut the problem with British teenagers.

They were all stupid, ugly people with disgusting teeth!

The best thing about the programme was my brothers reaction - he is 14, swears alot, dresses in Nike et al, has no respect for rules and messes around in school. I think it hit home to him what an idiot he looks to normal people!!
I found that the sad thing about the programme was that at the end of it I was left thinking 'How do we solve this problem in society?' and that I cannot think of a way that it can be done.

The people showed no respect for authority or other people and I can't see how we could tackle the problem without provoking them! I think one of easiest things to do would be to provide more youth centres because many of the girls said themselves that they did what they did through boredom.

It is a sorry state for society that people can get pleasure or attempt to heal their own emotional wounds by victimising other people. I was utterly sickened by that girl who started shouting and laughing about Hitler outside of a Jewish School. Sometimes it makes me disgraced to be a teenager in this country.

I want to watch this does anybody know if it will be repeated? The actions of these girls don't sound like ADS to me. I think it is more just they have had such a bad up bringing they don't know how to behave in a modern society. These kids have probably been bought up with thinking the world is against them so they see their bahavour has a way of getting back at the system.
