I've been wanting to go to the doctor for about two years as I think I might be depressed - but what keeps making me chicken out is right at the beginning, walking in, sitting there, and saying: 'I'm depressed'. I mean, how did everyone else actually say it? I was thinking of doing one of those online tests, printing off my answers and just giving it to him, but it seems a bit pathetic...
I told the doctor by going with two problems. By saying to begin with that I had 2 problems, I used the first (lingering cough) as a warm up, before a prompt from the doctor to tell her about the second problem (my depression). I started the second with "I'm feeling quite depressed." Hope that helps
