Teacher Getting Me Down...

Basically, for the last couple of weeks my English teacher has really made me feel like crap. The other day when I went to get help with one of my essays that has to be written in class (you do a draft at home first), he said to me, "You should've came and got help before now. I'm not going to help you." Two of my friends were with me and he helped them both with their essays.

I handed in my essay re-drafted today for him to mark and he shouted at me for handing it in so late. Then he thanked all my friends for handing the same essay in!

When we had to answer a question on the board today, my friend didn't understand the question and asked him about it. He said it was pretty obvious and looked at me and shouted to the whole class "Just because "my name" doesn't understand the question doesn't mean it's wrong!" I didn't even ask anything about the question!!

So anyway, I have actually felt rubbish everyday at school for the last two weeks and I dread going to English, but am I being stupid or is this guy picking on me?

If he has been doing this to you specifically, and you have not provoked him in any way, then yes, I'd say he was 'picking on' you.

Mention it to your form tutor if it's really upsetting you.

It started ever since I failed one of my class tests, like the rest of the class.

best advice yet, study hard and prove that stupid teacher of yours wrong, meanwhile practise your cold cold stares, or better yet say he touched you?(maybe not):p:

Tough Love. Prove him wrong. Read up on your books, go prepared to lessons, and don't give him anything to shout about. If he still does it, tell your tutor.

Sometimes tough love can get your bum in gear:
My bio teacher in third/fourth always gave me shoutings cos I'm bit giggly ( in a manly way  ) and as result didn't do much work so long story short got A after much struggle and epic tellings off.
Saved my bum during higher's and was my favorite teacher.
Sent her flowers as a thank you after I left because it just ain't cool to send flowers to a teacher when they're still your teacher.

He's playing hard to get.

To be honest I wouldn't put up with it. I'd either answer back or just become his worst nightmare - which is a student who seemingly does no work but gets the best grades - I had a teacher who shouted at me really badly in front of the whole class for something my friend had done. I was so pissed off I just messed about in all this lessons - warning: may have to do EXTRA work outside of lessons to kick their bums

Teachers are people too, and they're actually very rarely intentionally mean. The chances are that if he knows how you feel, he might change his behaviour towards you. Perhaps it would be worth asking a couple of friends to stay behind at the end of a lesson and explain to him the impact he's having on you.

Of course if he doesn't react well to that then it will give you extra evidence when you complain to your head of year with prowords like "bullying" and "emotional abuse"...

Complain to him/ your form tutor/ head of year ~ whoever but get it sorted. Far too many people have to put up with **** like this at school, i know i did. I know from personal experience that when its teachers picking on you it knocks your confidence in a different way to when students pick on you. Don't let them do this to you!!
