Chocolate Milkshake.. Diaretic?

Odd question I know, But I'm going crakers.

I cut down on Cola cause I know that IS a diarectic and I'm fed up of going to the toilet to empty my bladder (Work Filters.. I must keep words that could get the site canceled down >.<) every 15 minutes.

So I started bringing in Newquik (the powder stuff to add to milk) And no change. It's really annoying because I have to walk the length of my office, go into the hall got to the toilet.. and back, then repeat 15 minutes later. albeit my PC crashes at around the same times but it's still really inconveniant.

So I just want to know, is chcolate mik a Diarectic *Had the same problem with Yazoo too* Or is it not and then what on earth would cause me to run to the toilet every 15 minutes...:s-smilie:

Don't know if it is, but you could try keeping warmer as cold environments make you pee more.

I seriously hate the cold, Hence why even when my computer broke I didn't give up my desk for a faster one, I've right by a radiator and the kitchen, with a walk away from the door and the windows are a good few meters infront of me... I'm in the warmest spot in the office xD

I kinda hope it isn't the chocolate milk, the stuff keeps me alive in work. grg, Darn my body!

I don't know if it is - but how much fluid are you drinking?

Every 15 mins sounds a bit excessive (I'm a tea-addict, and I don't go that much). Might want to go see your GP, just to be on the safe side.

Have you tried another flavour?

Chocolate contains caffeine, and caffeine is a diuretic, although I would have thought there would only be trace amounts in chocolate milkshake. Are you hypersensitive to caffeine?

Reply 6

Nope, When I was younger I drank a ton of it, and I used to drink around 10 cups of tea a day, I've cut down dramatically now and it barely affects me.

Today I've had to half mugs of Nesquick, 1 Cup of tea and a swig of sprite.

But I'm pretty much desperate for the toilet at Least 3 times an hour.

I'll see if I can get a GP appointment same day as my Phsyio.

Okay, good idea . One other thought, any idea how your blood sugar is? Obviously it's not the only cause, but diabetes can cause increased frequency of urination, which would be further aggrevated by the sugar content of chocolate milk....

Since you're not anon-ed, I'm going to make the Qs below rhetorical

Physio as in physiotherapy or a physical/check-up? I've heard of people suffering from bladder weakness following childbirth/certain surgeries/trauma.

Oh Bleeding heck I hope not. I pretty much would spend 99% of my life asleep with out something sugar like (I get a good amount of sleep every night but I still feel reach Uch and groggy till i eat something either high in carb of high in sugar)

Havn't had my blood sugar level things tested for years, Was just a routine check up when I was about 12 I think.

Didn't see the point of Anoning this one tbh lol

I like answering Q's xD

1 - Not given birth... Ever.
2 - Physiotherapy is for a long term condition my doctor cna't pinpoint, Might stem from injury suffered years ago or I might have FibroMyalgia. Or something like that.

Don't know much about Fibromyalgia, but Wiki informs me that it can be linked to this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interstitial_cystitis.

What is a diaretic?

It's a common misspelling of diuretic.

It could be a bladder infection, which would explain the fact you need to pass urine frequently, but then you'd also probably be in a bit of pain.

Would advise that you try some kegel exercises. Won't explain anything in graphic detail on here, but look at this website as it should help. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kegel_exercise

Hmm... I'd dash to the Doc if I were you - remember to let him/her know if you have any other symptoms too (headache, nausea, abdominal pains, heavy periods, bloody urine etc etc).

Must be an absolute pain for you - I totally sympathise! :frown:

Its irratating.

Its hard to work out symptoms though, Atm I have Chrionic Migraines and Chronic Back pain. On the implant to get rid of Chronic Period pain.. So head aches, Nausea and abdominal pain are a norm lol

I think the best I can diagnose you with a 'raw deal'; you have my sympathies for all that lot.... Anyhow, stick to your plan to see your GP, ask for whatever help and tests you can get, and maybe for a referral to a neurologist for the chronic pain you have in one form or another.
