GSAM won't make a penny of fees until 2010 if they earn their historical average return consistently. They had to inject $3bn over the summer, all on favourable fee structures to new investors, and now Big Lloyd might be thinking about shutting down Global Alpha. Peachy.

True they havent been doing to well... but have u heard they r opening a new fund of $ 6 billion. If the new fund gets close to $6 billion, it will match the biggest fund launch ever... so this could make GSAM a big player

At Asset Management no. BR beats GS but overall the Goldman Sachs brand is more respectable and more well known.

so you mean if somebody wants to have a carrer in Asset Management then BlackRock is a better choice and if somebody wants to change career to say CEO of some IT companies then Goldman Sachs is a btter choice?

guys this is pointless, obviously the OP is only considered about prestige. I would put big money on him choosing GS even if news came out that GSAM had a 50% chance of being shut down in the next 2 months,
