That’s so annoying. Same thing happened to me. All I had was what I thought was the official certificates but she emailed and said no we need the official ones I said these are the only ones iv had and iv only ever used them for jobs etc. I also have a degree so obv have GCSEs and even if I didn’t why is it a requirement to have these GCSEs. I never seen anywhere stating these r a requirement. I emailed them again because I think this is holding things up a lot. Iv completed the form about sharing info etc . But as i say .... never asked for these before xx

Oh my god so annoying, I rang the admissions office as I had heard no word back from my email and she said she would flag it up to whoever it is deals with that so fingers crossed they will accept that I obviously do have english and maths gcse and they can just send me the questions.

I know !! It took them a whole week to even email me after I’d sent the GCSEs in to then say they weren’t the official ones. So if it takes them a week to reply to each email I’m gonna be waiting ages to finally get somewhere ! Maybe il ring them instead

Hi all,

I've just made my account today, as I received a letter earlier this morning inviting me for an interview at Queens on Tuesday 13th February - so nervous already lmao.

I'm applying for the grad route and I didn't share my info. No word from Magee yet!

Thank you! I only received word about the interview via post. Hopefully we hear from Magee soon as it would be my preference.
Hi all. Received via ucas 2day that I was unsuccessful in getting an interview with UU which includes magee and bmc. I have everything crossed now that I get an interview 4 queens. I have emailed UU to find out why I didn't get to interview stage. x

Oh no way... gutted for you but hopefully you get interview with Queens - after all the effort with application and personal statement it’s bound to be frustrating to not get interview. I just logged into UCAS to see if I had any updates - nothing changed on it yet so still a waiting game for me 😬😬😬
Hi all. Do any of you know much about doin social work degree through open university? x

All I’ve been able to find is one page on the Open University website which doesn’t really provide much info or any links to anything more - maybe best giving them a call x
Yeah that's all I've found as well. I've sent an email so we'll c wot they say x

Thank you!! I'm focusing on the sheet they gave me, and the books that they recommended for me to read. Basically trying to guess what they will say lmao. Yeah Queens did ask for my certificates, back in December I think after I sent my UCAS.
Hi everyone

I went through this process last year and I’m currently in my 1st year social work at bmc.

A few people in my class turned down places in queens and Ulster because the bmc class sizes are small so the teaching is more personal which is great.

If anyone has any questions ask away

Hi Molly, is it a long wait from doing your interview to finding out you have been placed, does it take up until the end of April or has anyone found out any sooner? Thank you

I'm final year at qub, 3 years ago it went like this... everyone finds out first week of may unless they have failed the interview, you normally find out within 2 weeks if you have been unsuccessful!

However you may have passed the interview but not got enough to secure a place so you will then be put on a waiting list and will be offered a place in August after gcse/a level results come out!

Hiya, I contacted them back in December, hopefully the following helps:

"You are interested in knowing how many student places are available - we do not have a limit on the number of student places, so applicants are not in competition against each other for a place on the programme.

The programme begins in late January / early February each year, and the time frame for application starts anytime during the year before, with the potential student's employer or sponsoring agency indicating an interest by completing the OU's Expression of Interest and Agency Information form. This needs to be submitted by mid-September.

The employer or sponsoring agency then receives an application form for the potential student to complete, along with other documents, and then the completed application form, completed by the prospective student and countersigned by the employer or sponsoring agency is returned to the OU, by the beginning of October.

Interviews take place in October, November and December, and applicants who are offered a place are sent registration documentation in early January.

I am attaching a fact sheet with more general information on both the undergraduate and postgraduate social work programmes, and also the role of the sponsoring agency.

Follow (or copy and paste) this link: http://wels.open.ac.uk/overview/school-health-wellbeing-and-social-care/professional-programme-social-work/postgraduate
for more information on the PGDip and MA programme. Particularly see the 'Information for employers in England' booklet or the 'Information for prospective students in England' booklet which provide useful details."

* Something to note however, is that it is not currently a NISCC approved course instead having a transitional arrangement in place across the UK which is unique to OU - this means you may not be eligible for the DHSS incentive bursary. I did not follow this up so cannot confirm for sure

** Another thing you'd have to investigate further is in relation to the entry requirements for postgrad study, I think the OU require 60 credits of OU study that has not already been attached to a qualification earned through them. As I studied with them for 2 years this is something I have so I did not really pay much attention to whatever page it was on and don't really have the time to look for it at the minute, sorry.

Thank you Sinead for all this info. I'm still waiting on ou gettin back bout my query lol. I am entering at undergraduate level. A bursary is not eligible but do u no if u are eligible for student finance? x
