Getting an A* for EDEXCEL maths A level

This is what's confusing me:

On the edexcel website it says to get an A* in maths for A level you need to get 80 UMS overall and 90 UMS average in C3 AND C4 ; are they not counting the other A2 module you do in this 90 UMS average? Does this 'extra' A2 module count towards the overall 80 UMS average?

For example if you get 200 out of 300 UMS in AS, and then for A2 get 100 in C3, 100 in C4 but 80 in the other module , will you get an A*? Since for C3 and C4 the UMS average is more than 90, and overall the UMS is bang on 80
Your assumption is correct. You need 480/600 ums (which is 80 average across the six) and you need an average of 90 in C3 and C4. The results you provided would be an A*.

So as long as the 'other' a2 level (mechanics for me) doesn't skew up the overall average, it's smooth sailing?

anyone?

AS already stated you need 480 ums that includes 180 UMS for C3&4 combined.
as long a poor mechanics result does not take the total below 480 then it doesn't matter.

Thank you!
All you need is to average 90 ums in c3 and c4, and 75 ums in the rest of your modules
