Pathology

Does anybody know about the situation with careers in pathology. I understand it is a relatively small specialty now in the UK as the NHS outsources many such services. Are there still plenty of training posts and careers available?

Would be very grateful if anybody knows the situation as this information is hard to find on-line.

Can anybody provide any information?
As far as I'm aware getting a training place in pathology is not hard at all and number of training places is stable. However, it does appear that the current crisis combined with the new contract heavily disincentivising out of hours work that applications are increasing.
