So I just recieved my A level grades ane got AAB and will be reapplying next year to uni.

I was hoping to apply to the international relations and international law course but it says a typical offer would be A*AA and minimum is ABB. This is confusing and I was wondering if anyone has gotten a lower that "typical offer" from edinburgh?

The other course I would be interested in is Politics which is typical offer AAA and minimum ABB.

Does anyone think I stand a chance with AAB; I really want to go to Edinburgh!

Hi

Typical offer is exactly that- the offer that you are most likely to get. Minimum offer is basically the minimum you need to have for them to consider your application however as these are both high demand courses it would be mostly people who have contexual conditions that might get these offers

If you look here you can look recent statistics for chances of an http://www.ed.ac.uk/files/atoms/file...statistics.pdf
(These are for English students which I assume you are)

Scottish students have a much harder time

http://www.ed.ac.uk/files/atoms/file...statistics.pdf

for example they have only a 6-10% chance of an offer in International relations as opposed to 29-50%chance for English !

So realistically you have chance but it is impossible to say how much of one.

Given you can apply to 5 places it is worth a shot and if you write an impressive PS and have good outside interests that show a passion for the subject you might get an offer. Especially as you are not that far off the typical offer

Good Luck

You posted the Rest of UK statistics twice, so here is the one for Scottish and EU students for comparison: http://www.ed.ac.uk/files/atoms/file...statistics.pdf

And good luck from me too
