If it's were you want to go for education then yes. Liverpool isn't as bad as many people make out. Anywhere you go your going to get racist people.
Racism? What ****ing racism? Liverpool doesn't have a racism problem.

Come over and experience it for yourself.
Liverpool is the European City of Culture for 2008, thus many of its famous buildings have been revamped and renovated. The shops are amazing, it has 3 top universities (that cater for anyone's academic needs), it has fantastic sporting and leisure facilities (and is home to the best club in the world ) and above all the people are lovely. You find racism anywhere you go unfortunately, but Liverpool should in no way be targeted as a racism 'hotspot'. The city has a fantastic mix of people from all different cultures and backgrounds, and the people there are proud of this diversity so there is NOTHING to worry about. I hate it when people slag off such a lovely city (The best in the UK if you ask me).....You'd never guess my dad's a scouser would you?! xx

I half expected that to end in a 'you ****ing (insert racist name here).

is Universty of Liverpool worth the racism ? And is the city as racist as people say it is for an international student..??

Why not go to a better university ?
There are some decent ones in London.
Working class towns like Liverpool do have serious problems with racism

No Racism....Hhhhmm thats funny
I recall there was a racially provoked murder case not 2 long ago in the Livepool area. I dont know anything about the university but black boys getting attacked with axes for no reason would seriously worry me.Clearly some people living there must still be stuck in the stone age.
Sorry but this hardly puts Liverpool in a positive light for race relations.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/merseyside/4441218.stm
In Liverpool, 18-year-old student Anthony Walker was murdered with an axe as he walked through a park simply because he was black.

During the hearing, the jury was shown a 3D graphic of how the axe was embedded more than two inches (5cm) into Anthony's skull.

Stay away from Liverpool.
It has serious problems with racial violence.
Fair enough, that was an awful attack and shows there are some seriously deluded people out there. The victim was an innocent guy, who was obviously extremely bright. But these are isolated incidents. Saying that you should stay away from Liverpool due to one attack like that is like saying don't go to Portugal because you might get abducted, or stay away from London because you'll get stabbed. These incidents happen everywhere. It's stereotypes like this that create problems.

The incredibly aggressive way you said it.

It happens a LOT in Liverpool. I have Asian friends from Liverpool who tell me about how they were taunted by adults and kids while on their way to school. They sometimes had filthy objects thrown at them, including dirty diapers.

If the Orginal Poster is brown or black ( since he appears to be from India, I guess that he is ), he should avoid Liverpool unless he has no other options.

We may not notice racism. However, it is alive and well in Britain, particularly in the working class areas of Britain.

"Tony Vaughan, head of the Merseyside Racial Harassment Prevention Unit, said that he is dealing with more complaints now than two years ago. Slavery, racism and Liverpool seem for many to ring together. The past record does not shine favourably on the city. Racist practices are still manifestly evident. The city's black population is largely confined to a ghetto area in the South of the city, known by most as Toxteth. Centuries of racial discrimination and prejudice are deeply ingrained. "

" ONE LIVERPOOL family have spoken about suffering 50 years of terrifying racist abuse and say the problem shows no sign of abating.
May Adeniran, 66, and her Nigerian husband Stephen, have been spat at and are subjected to verbal abuse on the street.
After their first child Gloria was born, the family received threatening letters, abuse and petrol bombs, and were attacked on a bus in Everton.
The couple's son Abio was the victim of a terrifying attack which the family say was race-linked. May returned home to find Gloria bound hand and foot and gagged on the floor, with cushions piled up on her six-week-old baby son Abio's cot."

One senior race campaigner in Liverpool told Blink that the family’s racist experience is just the "tip of the iceberg" in the city. "
She said: "There is inbred racism in the city. The small minority are worse than ever. "
There's no serious racial problems, bits of casual racism yer but what city/town/village doesn't?

lol what student in their right mind would venture into Toxteth? That said Toxteth used to be the richest part of Liverpool, where all the white slave merchants lived. If the poster is Chinese then he should fit in perfectly, the ideal city to study in.

Edit: Hitler's brother lived in Toxteth  not a racist place at all lol

There is racism everywhere you go unfortunately to be honest however as a student I doubt the OP would go into areas like Toxteth and the outer areas and would stay in the city centre. I've been here for nearly three years and have yet to see a problem amongst students
I can't believe my city is being slagged off this much over racism !!! Really people need to get a grip and realised that it happens EVERYWHERE.

Yes Liverpool have a bad history with the slavery but it isn't just our hands that blood is on, it's most of the country. Livrpool was merely the cornor stone of it.

The OP has good reason to want to attend Liverpool university as it's one of the best in the country. OP don't be letting people put you off, why not come to Liverpool for a day or a few days and see for yourself that Liverpool is a wonderful city which has many people from many different backgrounds and cultures. But yes there can be racism just like anywhere else.

It's because people like you (pural) that give cities like Liverpool a bad name. Instead of stopping racism your prolonging it.

I can't possibly be racist, there is nobody in my school/town/even borough to be racist to lol.

Exactly! I've only been here two, but again I've never seen any problems.

Another thing I'd like to add is that every - practically - email I've received asking about how to improve a policy towards any group of people at my uni is about racism! What about doing one for disabled/homosexual/other type of students?!

Sorry if that sounded snide - that wasn't my intention.

Son_of_the_Sun, don't go putting people off something they want to do. Also, Liverpool is NOT working class. It has wealthier (City centre) and poorer areas (Kensington, Toxteth), just like everywhere else. Crime of every type (race-motivated included) happens EVERYWHERE IN THE UK. Why can't you see that?!
Son_of_the_sun

And you would know this how? Or are you just making it up?

Of course Liverpool has people who are racist. Just like every single area in the world. It doesn't have a racism problem though.

If your going to start nit picking - Huyton isn't Liverpool. Its Knowsley.

Listen Son of the sun..I don't know why you have such a vendetta against Liverpool but i don't actually care either. Your making false assumptions against a city you have probably never visted. I've lived her all my life and so i think i am a bit more experienced in the matter then what your supposed 'friends' told you. There are people who are racist in Liverpool..just like there are people who are racist in London, B'ham, Newcastle, Spain, France, Botswana etc.

And don't bother coming back with another copy and paste job full of articles. Experience it, instead of reading about it. For ****s sake.
