quick maths question

hi guys

i understand the whole concept of letting y = 2^x and that's how i approached the question initially, but i'm a little confused as to how the 2^x+2 becomes 4y.

thanks!

2^(x+2) is the same thing as 2^x multiplied by 2^2

4(2^x)

Since we're setting 2^x = y, that's 4y
