How can i get legal work experience?

Hi everyone,

i'm about to start university to study law in october and i'm looking to get some legal work experience.

Does anyone have any advice on the types of places i could ask? Because i don't know where to start given it's such a specialist profession.

Dont think you need any. Earn some money or enjoy your break imo.

Solicitors, civil service, courts, police, legal department of large companies.

Thank you, it's not for during the summer. I'm just looking into my options when I start university before I start vacation schemes

Part time paid Law jobs will be very difficult to find to juggle alongside university. Best bet is to volunteer - your university may run a legal clinic, and there may also be local legal clinics you could also volunteer at. There may also be options at your local Citizens Advice Bureau.

Most people at uni don't get legal work experience alongside their studies. Vast majority will work in pubs, retail, hospitality, supermarkets etc while studying. People wrongly think this won't help your CV much, when it fact it will show you can juggle multiple commitments/time manage far better than the next person who only has a handful of lectures a week.

I actually am working in retail at the moment, but I think your right about the work experience. I'll have a look at volunteering opportunities, thanks
