Law experience needed/extra-curricular

Well,

I had read somewhere (can't remember where.) that if you REALLY consider going to a university with a high reputation to study law, you have to have a really strong background/transferable skills to even stand a chance against the other candidates...

I have a few questions about it if anyone doesn't mind answering:

1) What kind of skills are universities looking for in potential law students?

2) How can this be shown or proven?

3) Out of ten, how important would you say extra-curricular is in the selection process?

(I'm sorry if you don't understand what I'm saying, English isn't my first language so I slip up sometimes.)

- Thank you <3
