I got:1A*,2A's,6BI REALLY NEED AN HONEST REPLYAre these good results or bad cause i want to become an aerospace engineer so idk if these are good enough?I am freaking out cause my parents are OK with it but i am NOT. i worked my level best and still got stupid results. And plus since i want to go to america to study they would need better results right?

And everyone else is kinda showing off their results ( no offence guys ) cause i got mostly B's and everyone is sad about A's. I am sooooooooo sad about this cause almost 50 - 100 have posted WAYYYY better results than me

they are good, Don't worry.

do well in ur a-levels, and why go to america to do aerospace? There are plenty of good unis here.
Your results are good. You need to focus on doing really well at A Level now.

Im doing IB and the best engineering uni are there and my family went there as well

Most unis don't care about GCSEs, relax. A Levels are much more important. These won't get a second look!

Side note: make sure to pick good A Levels! I would imagine you need maths/physics, but make sure to check a few uni websites with this course to see their requirements

Can we not over-exaggerate in the title please. Plenty of people did much worse than this, plenty of people dont even aim for grades this high.

If im honest when applying for university, your IB grades will be more important, so make sure you try and ace whatever subjects you happen to choose. If looking at engineering i'd assume Maths and Physics will be the most important subjects to do well in, too.

What the **** I actually got C's and B's so am I failure to you? Not trying to be rude but can you please calm down and not exaggerate so much?

I AM NOT saying your results are bad, but im saying people better than ours are over exaggerating toooo much
Honestly these results are great you have nothing to worry about, Universities don't concern themselves over your GCSE results, it's how you do in your A-Levels that really matters. I got a few B's at GCSE but I'm still applying to Oxford because my AS grades prove i'm capable.

Ya but since im planning to go to america, gcses would be more important as said on the internet. but anyways good luck with your application

You're the one here who's saying your results are the worst ones ever.. it's you who's exaggerating. Honestly. Please be mature and don't exaggerate so much

Ok, look do you not feel atleast disappointed that almost most of TSR have got better grades than us. Like literally 2/3/4/5 more A / A* 's than us

the worst results ever? hardly. it may seem like you did "lesser" because of the nature of TSR. what you have to remember is that a lot of the people who go on this website, or post regularly are high achieving students in grammar schools. while this isn't an excuse for them to look down on the rest of us plebeians (i'm kidding obviously), it helps us to understand why they may seem disappointed because they got an 8 not a 9. the majority of the country is not like that, at all. most people would be ecstatic with the results you got. you should be proud of how well you did, and don't compare yourself to other people- especially the ones on here.

now about america, idk much about the process of going to university, but i think you have to sit SATs or something, which is like their version of A levels? i probably got that wrong, and i'm sure i'll be roasted for that in a reply lol. but either way, they'll matter so much more than GCSEs. also, america is a huuuuge country and has a staggering amount of universities, like in the thousands. there's guaranteed to be one that you'll love that would accept you. anyways, calm down about your results, you did very well. focus on A levels now, and think about changing your style of revision to something else. for example, if you mostly used flash cards this time, maybe for A levels try to revise more with practice papers and mind maps? whatever works best for you.

also, you know how you feel kinda bad about your results because of the people that did better than you feeling bad about theirs? try to be empathetic about how others may be feeling who did worse than you reading this post. okay? hope i helped

Don't worry - those are strong (and consistent) grades. Your A Levels - which matter much more - will allow you to specialise in subjects you enjoy, meaning you're likely to do very well

I believe you're correct - most, if not all US universities require applicants to sit the SAT.

Edit: seems some US unis are "SAT optional", see http://blog.prepscholar.com/the-complete-guide-to-sat-optional-colleges

Oh and btw SAT's are basically these exams like CAT (idk if you know them) but it tests your english, math and science. That score then affects the uni you go to
I literally...had worse results...and was doing engineering at Exeter...?

There are exactly three universities that offer engineering who give one jot about your GCSEs: Oxbridge and Imperial. This leaves at most 2 of your 5 applications in UCAS looking your GCSE performance.

It's irrelevant, y'all need to stop pretending like it isn't.

As for the US...are you a US citizen whose parents also have a large chunk of money saved up? If you're not a US citizen, are your parents mega rich (I mean, oil baron rich. Not "NHS consultant" rich)? Or, are you an Olympic level athlete? If the answer to more than one of those questions is no, it's not an option, as the only way you could afford to study there would be to get into Harvard (or maybe Princeton/Yale) which will cover your costs in one way or another, or getting an NCAA scholarship somewhere (which will probably be a mid-tier at best state school, if you don't get into Stanford/Berkeley).

Yes, you can say my family is rich cause my sister is in US Perdue finishing her last year. And since im not from UK but go to a British School i dont think i would have that many problems
I got 3B's 5C's and I'm in my last year of a good uni, on track to a 2:1 or First Class Honours.
Those are great results

Being from the UK isn't the issue - it's being from anywhere but the US that causes great limitations in funding.

If your family has the resources to fund two kids at US colleges, then by all means go for that - your GCSEs will probably be less important than your SAT scores, and you can find out all about the SAT from your sister, who will have taken it. Your GCSEs make an overall >3.0 average, and you'll definitely be sitting "college level" courses when you do your A-levels (or IB) so you should be broadly competitive. If you get excellent results in 6th form this should bump up your overall gpa and heavily increase your weighted gpa (for colleges that consider that).

There is also the ACT as an alternative to the SAT main test - it's broadly similar but covers some topics differently, but is accepted by all colleges. The ACT content seemed closer to the UK syllabuses and style than the SAT, and so I'd recommend that plus 2 SAT subject tests (which allows you to get all your testing done at about the same time, as opposed to sitting the main SAT then sitting subject tests at the next exam date). However when i looked there were fewer ACT testing centres and they weren't very conveniently located for me.
"Worst results ever" Are you having a laugh? A B isn't the lowest grade you can get. You need to relax and stop comparing yourself.
